# Alerts and notifications

Alert types, Slack OAuth, email, webhooks, and how evaluation is scheduled.

Caliber evaluates rules on a schedule and when usage syncs finish, then notifies the channels you configure.

## Alert types

| Type                    | Intent                          |
| ----------------------- | ------------------------------- |
| `cost_threshold`        | Spend crossed a threshold       |
| `adoption_minimum`      | Adoption below a floor          |
| `inactive_user`         | User inactive against your rule |
| `monthly_budget_breach` | Monthly budget breached         |
| `runaway_sessions`      | Sessions running away           |
| `frontier_mix`          | Frontier model mix signal       |

Severity levels include low, medium, high, and urgent. Mutes and reminder caps apply (reminders are capped so inboxes are not flooded).

## Channels

Configure under **Settings → General → Notification Channels** (and related APIs).

| Channel      | How it connects                                                   | Notes                                                                                                                                               |
| ------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Slack**    | OAuth scopes `incoming-webhook`, `chat:write`, `users:read.email` | Admin picks a channel on consent. Caliber posts alerts and can DM (for example invite acceptance, habit digest). **Does not** read channel history. |
| **Email**    | Org notification prefs                                            | Delivered via Caliber’s email provider                                                                                                              |
| **Webhooks** | HTTPS endpoint                                                    | Optional HMAC signing when configured                                                                                                               |

## Cadence

* Daily alert evaluation around **08:00 UTC**
* Cost alerts also fire when a provider sync finalizes

## Test

Use the in-app test notification action on the channels settings when available, so you confirm Slack/email/webhook before relying on production alerts.
